for everyone
If adults can be unkind to others, so too can CHILDREN. There goes bullying, pulling pants, giving others a wedgie, and of course, who can forget: name calling!

“binky stinky”
“bart the fart”
“hey A.S.S. (allan s. stine)”

Choosing your baby’s name is as crucial as choosing the time to have a baby: it must be timely, you must be ready, and you have to be sure you want it – or else, you’ll regret it for the rest of your life.

(I love my name kymly, but I got a lot of “silly kymly” or "slimy kym-ly" during my childhood)

If you’re pregnant, and you’re confused with what to name your child, you’ve come to the right place. If you’re an adult and you’re thinking of changing your name, then read on. For others, I hope this post will give you an idea of what and what not to name your kids! (or maybe you’re just looking for a unique username to use for that social community you’re joining)

Bonus Resource:

Is Your Baby's name LUCKY?
Name your child based on the I-Ching and your kid will be the luckiest kid in the neighborhood! The I-Ching philosophy follows numerology, and encourages that the number of letters in your name correspond to a number deemed lucky (as shown on the table).

For example:

Franklin = 8

*8 on the table is LUCKY (see table on site)

Since you can’t do anything about the last name, this site provides a “magical, lucky combination” you can use when naming your baby – no names though, just a combination to guide you.

Of course, you can’t guarantee a lucky, prosperous life with just a lucky name – but it won’t hurt to give it a try right?

Tips on Naming Your Baby:

  • Know what it means. In some countries, certain names can mean certain things. Play it safe by carefully searching the origins and meaning of the name, instead of having your kid giving you the evil eye because his name means “gross”
  • Be mindful of initials. Funny initials I found on the net: Christopher David Player (CD Player), Ron Anne Timmons (RAT). Try not to use names with initials that spell out words (especially the ones with unpleasant connotations).
  • Practice saying the name. If you don’t get the hives after a few repetitions, then you can most probably live with it – and so would your child. And please, be conscious of what rhymes with the name or else your child will forever be scarred when his name rhymes with rat, brat, fart, tart.
  • There are parents out there who prefer the rather obscure names over the usual names, and they make good sense – imagine a class full of Johns. John A. John B. Can be rather confusing for your kid right?
  • On the other hand, there are parents who live on themes – a flower theme, naming all their kids after flowers: Ylang Ylang, Rose, etc. Or after the 3 main colors: Red, Blue andYellow – although they’re rather unique, sometimes it’s a bait for teasing in school (but I’d like to stress that if you really really like the name, then by all means, feel free to name them him or her the way you like!)

Naming your child can be the most exciting event in your life next to actually giving birth – you have complete control over it, and it’s part of your heritage to your child. So better think it over thoroughly - ask your parents, friends, or post a blog like this, for that name will be used by your child, from the time he comes out of the your womb, till he or she themselves have kids of their own.

Have a great time naming your baby!
